Bacon is good for you. That’s what I tell myself as I eat it. But there is truth to it. In some ways, it is good for you. Bacon is one of the staple foods for those on the carnivore diet. But what about for survivalists? Can it be more useful for the prepper lifestyle other than being wasted and thrown away?
In this post, you’re going to learn different bacon grease uses that can come in handy.
And to make myself feel even better, I did some research into what uses for bacon grease and the extra fat that’s leftover from cooking it that we could start using it for instead of throwing it away.
Usually, people just throw out the grease without much thought about it. It is, after all, just fat that’s left from the bacon after cooking it, right?
It turns out, there is more we could get out of this greasy substance, much more. Continue reading below to see what you can use it for.

Firestarter
Not many people know how to make a fire with bacon grease. It makes a great fire starting method. Here’s how to do it.
Use the grease to coat cotton balls and you got cotton ball fire-starters.
The grease turns the cotton into highly flammable little balls of fire.
Use It To Cook It
Ironically, you could take the extra bacon grease and fat you just got from cooking and use it for more cooking.
Save it, put it in the fridge, and use it next time to coat your skillet for cooking. It’s also good for cooking things like eggs. Just add a little to the pan before putting your eggs in. It gives the eggs a nice flavor and prevents them from sticking to the pan.
Moisturize Gear
Have you ever thought about moisturizing your equipment? Lubricating your gear, items, and equipment turn out to be essential for its longevity. In the Winter, your gear will crack given enough time in cold weather.
Use the bacon grease to moisturize your boots so you can finish getting up the mountain. Perhaps it’s time to add bacon grease to your Winter survival kit.
