10 Ways To Use Chapstick
1. Soothing Blisters
Rub chapstick where you feel a blister about to form, like the back of your heel. The chapstick will lubricate the area and stop the shoe or sock from causing discomfort. Nobody wants to be hiking through the woods on blistered feet all day.
2. Heal Small Cuts
By running the chapstick over a minor cut, the wax prevents the bleeding. Depending on the kind of chapstick, it could also help to soothe the pain a bit. This only works for minor knife cuts and paper cuts though- not large wounds.
3. Get Rid of the Bug Bite Itch
The wax in the chapstick prevents the air from reaching the bug bit, which in turn makes it stop itching.
4. Prevent Knives and Tools From Rusting
Run the chapstick along the blade to prevent your knives and other blades from rusting. It forms a barrier that water can’t get through, so it can’t oxidize and rust.
5. Make a Small Candle in a Pinch
Stick a match stick into the chapstick strike-side up. Then light it. You could also use a q-tip broken in half,
6. Reduce Glare in Snow
Dip the chapstick in black ash and make lines under your eyes. It works without the chapstick too, but the chapstick holds the ash on for a longer time and helps prevent snow blindness.
7. Hide Your Cash
Store a little roll of cash inside an empty tube of chapstick- nobody is going to look there for it.
8. Make Tinder
Run chapstick over dried twigs, cotton balls, or whatever else you’re using in your tinder to make the tinder burn a little longer and give more time for logs to catch.
9. Remove a Stuck Ring
Rings can be useful in survival situations, but if you injure your hand and it swells up that ring needs to come off fast, or you risk losing a finger. Grease up your hand with chapstick and pull.
10. Make The Ultimate Compact Survival Kit
An empty chapstick tube fits in a pocket easily and can hold matches, pills, a small compass, an x-acto knife blade, a fishing hook and line, and so much more. Possibilities are endless.
Now you know at least ten survival uses for chapstick that makes it more than worth the small space and inexpensive price tag.
