7 Most Important Survival Skills Every Man, Woman, And Child Should Know
Below are the most important survival skills for all survivalists and preppers should learn before the others. I saw a post about a 365 essential survival skills pdf. I’d say 365 seems to be one or two many skills to make them “essential skills for survival”.
The ones below truly are essential skills to learn for our long term survival. So let’s get started.
1. Make a Blazing Fire
One of the most primitive things there are. Making fire. Something so powerful and important for our survival needs.
Learn how to make fire anywhere, anytime.
This post by the Art of Manliness shows you how to make a roaring fire.
2. Make a Survival Signal
This one seems very basic and not all that much goes into it.
Make some noise or fire and rescue should see you right?
Knowing how to signal for help entails much more.
If you don’t have a compass with you, you can make a DIY compass.
But even if you don’t do that, you can navigate the wilderness with nothing but the sky. If you know how. Which is why it’s on this list and is important to develop.
Backpacker has a good guide on how to navigate the wilderness.
4. Find and Purify Water Anywhere
Water is useless to us unless we can drink it.
Be able to locate a water source and more importantly, develop water purification techniques so you can purify any liquid anywhere.
5. Build Survival Shelters Anywhere
Another one of the rules in the survival rule of threes is a shelter.
We need shelter to protect ourselves from the environment and predators if possible. Not only that, but we need to learn how to make multiple different DIY shelters as they all have unique purposes, pros, and cons depending on the situation.
6. Locate and Identify Safe Food To Eat
Food is essential for our survival but not as much as some other things. I would worry about shelter before food.
Finding and locating food sources is one thing. But what about identifying what the food is to see if it’s even safe to eat?
7. Medical, Injury Prevention, and Treatment
It’s not often we get injured. It’s also more uncommon to get injured without access to medical treatment.
But if we do get injured, we better be able to treat the injuries ourselves quickly and diligently. The smallest wound can cause infection and put your life at risk.
Learn the critical survival skills for first-aid and treating wounds.
Out of the hundreds of different survival skills you can learn and develop, these seven are believed to be the first and most important for you to excel in above the rest.
